Our Mission

A familiar idea, with a twist…

FoodCycle's main goal is to fight food poverty; to feed people suffering from poor nutrition and malnourishment. FoodCycle is different because young volunteers from many backgrounds lead each project. Plus, over 2 years time each project becomes independent of FoodCycle central office support and sustainable in their own right. The aim is to create a sense of ownership for the young adults running each project, as well as fostering a sense of community involvement.

We believe that there is a strong link between nutritious food and a person’s physical and mental well-being. That’s why when we cook, we work with trained chefs and nutritionists to make sure that our 3 course meals will help you meet your daily nutritional requirements for a healthy mind and body!

Our aims are:

Primary aims

•Help create positive social change in the community.

•Build nutritional knowledge, self-confidence and personal goals through volunteering

•Alleviate food poverty through the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals to disadvantaged people.

Secondary social and environmental aims are:

•To reduce food waste by reclaiming it for healthy meals.

•To generate interest in nutritious food and its importance to overall health and well being.

•Increase social cohesion between young people and their local communities.
